Het is zover!

De Knokkels heeft eindelijk weer een nieuwe site nadat het door omstandigheden een aantal maanden uit de lucht is geweest. Aangezien er toch veel vragen binnen kwamen waarom het niet meer te vinden was heeft Marten Tienstra van Tienstra Organisatie Nautische opleidingen mij gevraagd om een nieuwe site te bouwen. We zijn er trots op.

Hier zal veel informatie te vinden zijn over de voormalige reddingboten Knokkels uit Hindeloopen en de Cornelia Clasina. Er wordt nog steeds hard gewerkt om de site uit te breiden omdat het de bedoeling is om dieper in te gaan over de historie van reddingboten en evenementen die hiervoor worden georganiseerd.

Ik wens Marten en Gerda Tienstra veel plezier ermee.

Nice suprise! A couple of weeks ago I got an email from the Dutch photo magazine Zoom with the question if they were allowed to place one of my photos. It was meant for the special travel edition. I nearly forgot about it until the new edition of Zoom lay on the doormat. Great, my lighthouse of Schiermonnikoog, Netherlands, was shining on one of the pages!

Wat leuk! Een aantal weken geleden kreeg ik een email van het foto tijdschrift  Zoom met een vraag of ze een foto van mij mochten plaatsen in hun december uitgave. Was het haast vergeten totdat ik het opensloeg en mijn foto van de vuurtoren van Schiermonnikoog op een pagina zag in al zijn glorie!

As a big fan of Black & White photos I converted this image in monochrome. It was made in Köveskál, near the Balaton, in Hungary. Click on the image for a bigger version.

I have been playing with my Canon 100mm Macro lens to try to capture waterdrops. Thinking this is a easy job, well how wrong can I be.

I used an external flash at 1/250, different color water bassins, color paper as light reflector. It was very hard to get sharp images, these images are sharp but with a very shallow depth. Tips are welcome!

Once again an HDR photo experiment.  Images taken at my home town, Leeuwarden in Netherlands.  Software used: Qtpfsgui and Photoshop CS4. I suppose you like it or you don't like it.  For more information about HDR check out this page at Wikipedia. Click the images for a bigger view!

Today I went to the Wadden Sea to take some pictures. It was one of the most beautiful day this year. Terrific light conditions, these images are only Levels and Curves adjusted, nothing special.

The Wadden Sea has just been made a “World Heritage Site” by Unesco. And it is grand.

I still have so many photos to look at but here are two for the time being.

Touring through the country I arrived at Animal Farm. George Orwell? Duck Town? Horse city?

Afgelopen vrijdag heb ik de mogelijkheid gekregen om de bijeenkomst van de Nautische Vereniging Oude Reddingsglorie te Lemmer te fotograferen. Ondanks het donkere weer ben ik er toch in geslaagd om een aantal mooie foto’s te nemen.

New image. This time a palace somewhere in the vicinity of Dresden, Germany.

Once again an experiment with qtpfsgui HDR and Photoshop CS4. In detail, the image is composed of a 3 image exposure shot (exposure bracketing). I made two versions of the image in qtpfsgui, the first Mantiuk and the second Fattal. In Photoshop I placed the Mantiuk version on a layer and on top of that a new layer with the Fattal version.  The Fattal was a “Soft Light” layer. Then I only tweaked the image with Levels and Curves.

It may not be my best image but it was fun experimenting. Click on the image for a larger view.
